A former member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and principal trumpet
in the San Diego Opera and San Diego Chamber Orchestras, Alan Siebert
has performed and recorded with Summit Brass and taught at the Keystone
Brass Institute. He was principal trumpet with the American Sinfonietta, the
resident orchestra for the Bellingham Music Festival. Stargazer, his most
recent solo album, is available on the Equilibrium label. Hornpipes, his first
solo album, was released on Integra. He co-authored Teaching Brass: A
Resource Manual, published by McGraw-Hill, now in its 2nd edition. He has
recorded with Pro Arte, Integra, New World, Discovery, Klavier, Summit,
Equilibrium and Rodgers. On the board of directors for the International
Trumpet Guild, he is also a member of the Carillon Brass and the Dayton
Philharmonic Orchestra. His teachers include David Hickman, Charles
Schlueter, John Ware, Clifford Lillya and William Dederer.

Previous teaching appointments include Capital University University of
Minnesota Duluth, Miami University, Sinclair Community College,

University (Canada). Lead Trumpet credits include Manhattan Transfer,
Woody Herman Orchestra, Steve Allee Big Band, Aretha Franklin, John
Pizzarelli, Linda Ronstadt, John Lithgow, Donna Summer, the Van Dells,
and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Current performance credits include The
Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Tromba
Mundi Contemporary Trumpet Ensemble, Capital Brass Quintet,
Spectrum, UpBeat Brass, and Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra (Lead) as
well as prior performances with U.S. Air Force Band of Flight and Glenn
Miller Orchestra. Principal trumpet performances with Indianapolis
Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Pops, Lexington
Philharmonic, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and Top Brass. Has
served as artistic director and conductor for The Dayton Jazz Orchestra,
The Cincinnati Cotemporary Jazz Orchestra, Miami University One O’clock
Lab Band, Night Flight Jazz Ensemble (United States Air Force), Jazz
Central Big Band, and The Fraze Jazz Orchestra. Numerous performances
as guest soloist. conductor, and adjudicator, and has arranged and
commissioned works such as Luck Be a Lady Tonight, Play That Funky
Music, Back in U.S.S.R., Funky Nassau, Again I Say Rejoice, Lift Up, Days
Gone By, and Endless Stars. Recordings include The Movement, Revisited
with Christian McBride and The Detroit Jazz Festival Orchestra, At the
Cannibal’s Prayer Breakfast and Tromba Mundi: Music for Trumpet
Ensemble. Recent Grants include Visual and Digital Instructional
Laboratory Technology Grant for a technology-based research project and
Chancellor’s Small Grant awarded jointly for Faculty Jazz Combo (U. of
Minnesota).

Brent Gallaher is a Cincinnati, Ohio based saxophonist and has resided
Conservatory of Music and was featured on their album Carnival of Life—
1994, Alissa Records. While attending the CCM, Brent took a brief hiatus to
join the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He toured with the ensemble from 1991–
1992 and can be heard on their album Here We Go Again—1992 Victor. He
returned to Cincinnati and the CCM in 1992 and in 1994 completed his
Bachelors in Jazz Performance.
In November 1998, Brent was called to tour with the Tommy Dorsey
Orchestra under the direction of Buddy Morrow. Brent was with the Dorsey
band for just under a year. He returned to Dorsey in 2000 and was with
them for an additional seven months.
Brent has since been working as a freelance musician, private instructor
and clinician. Locally, Brent has performed with the Blue Wisp Big Band,
Cohesion Jazz Ensemble, Cal Collins, the Phil DeGreg Trio, the Ron Enyard
Trio, Wilbert Longmire, Ed Moss Society Jazz Orchestra, and the
Psychoacoustic Orchestra. The Cohesion Jazz Ensemble and The
Psychoacoustic Orchestra are featured on J-Curve’s Cincinnati Jazz
Collection Vol. 1 (1998) with Brent as a member. Brent also recorded with
the Psychoacoustic Orchestra on Blackstone's Hidden Treasures—
Cincinnati's Tribute to King Records' Legacy (2003).

A native of Cincinnati, Phil completed a degree in psychology from Yale
University before becoming a professional musician. After three years
working and studying music in Kansas City, he finished a masters for a
year with Woody Herman's Thundering Herd. Later he was the recipient
of two National Endowment for the Arts grants. He was named one of
the 10 finalists in Jazziz Magazine's 1995 "Keyboardists on Fire"
competition, and was a 1996 finalist in the Great American Jazz Piano
Competition. For for 16 years he served as the house pianist at
Cincinnati's famous Blue Wisp Jazz Club, accompanying visiting artists
on weekends. His jazz festival appearances include the North Sea,
Pori, Monterey, Montreux, Brecon, Wigan, and Elkhart Jazz Festivals.
Phil has performed in clubs and concerts throughout the United States,
and in the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Germany, Italy,
Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Brazil.
Phil considers music to be a gift and is dedicated to sharing his love of
jazz through teaching. He is currently Professor of Jazz Studies at the
University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, where he
teaches jazz theory, arranging, piano, and ensembles. He has taught
for the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops (since 1982), the
UK Jazzwise Jazz Camps (since 1996) and has served on the faculty of
the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, the Miami Valley Summer Jazz
Workshops, and the Jim Widner Jazz Camps. He has appeared as a
visiting artist/clinician at colleges and high schools throughout the U.S.,
Europe, Central and South America. Phil has presented
lecture/demonstrations to the International Association of Jazz
Educators, the National Group Piano Teachers Association, the Ohio
Music Educator's Association, the Ohio Music Teachers Association,
and the Music Teachers National Association, and has published
articles for Jazz Player Magazine. In 1995 he published "Jazz Keyboard
Harmony," a chord voicing method written for non-pianists and
beginning jazz pianists, which is now used at universities in the U.S.
and Europe.
Phil was recently awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to lecture about jazz
in Brazil, which he will do for three months in the spring of 2008.

Kim Pensyl is a prolific jazz recording artist, composer, arranger, and
producer who has twice been named one of Billboard’s Top-20
Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Year. A pianist and trumpeter, he has
had four Top-10 albums on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.
He has recorded with jazz legends such as Toots Thielemans, and
modern greats like Joey Calderazzo, Bob Mintzer, Chiele Minucci, Andy
Narell, Will Kennedy, Steve Rodby, and Alex Acuna. He has performed
at such esteemed jazz venues as The Blue Note, Blues Alley, Caravan
of Dreams, Scullers, the Beacon Theatre, and the Great American
Music Hall. He has also appeared at the Clearwater Jazz Festival,
Sunfest, Summerfest, Stone Mountain Jazz Festival, and Pacific Jazz
Festival among others. Also, Kim has toured with the Woody Herman
Orchestra and Acoustic Alchemy. He has more than 100 published
works recorded and over 150 compositions and arrangements in his
catalog. Great reviews from DownBeat, Jazziz, Jazz Times and others
have followed him during his career, echoing the feelings that fans
have about his music.
Kim is currently Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at the College-
Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is the featured
artist in the WJZA Smooth Jazz Trio around Central Ohio and also
performs at various clubs and concerts. In addition, Kim performs with
the faculty and guest artists at CCM, including Arturo Sandavol, Terri
Lyne Carrington, and Mulgrew Miller among others, along with several
big bands in the Cincinnati area.

Raquel Rodriquez is the Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Northern
Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. At NKU, Raquel is
the Coordinator of Brass Studies, teaches applied trumpet, plays 1st
trumpet in the NKU Faculty Brass Quintet, and is the director of the
Trumpet Ensemble, Brass Choir, and Concert Band.
Raquel is a versatile musician having appeared as a clinician, soloist,
and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, the
United Kingdom, and China. Raquel freelances frequently with many
regional orchestras in Kentucky and Ohio and is a performing member
with the Lexington Brass Band and Star United Mini-Corps (IN). Other
performing credits include the Sunflower Music Festival Orchestra,
Aspen Festival Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Fountain City Brass
Band, Athena Brass Band, Brass Theater with the Canadian Brass,
and the Tony Award winning show, Blast!. She was a performing
member of the internationally known Synergy Brass Quintet in their
2008-09 national tour and performed in over 200 concerts and clinics
across the nation. Raquel is a Conn Selmer artist and performs
exclusively on Bach trumpets.
Dr. Rodriquez is the co-editor of the IWBC (International Women’s
Brass Conference) Newsletter and is on the Board of Directors for
NABBA (North American Brass Band Association). Her articles have
been published in the Instrumentalist Magazine and ITG Journal (Jan
2012). Raquel will also present a cornet lecture recital at the 2012 ITG
Conference in Columbus, GA.
Raquel has been praised for her performances on trumpet and cornet.
She has been a trumpet/cornet prize winner at NABBA (North American
Brass Band Association), the US Open Brass Band Championships,
the National Trumpet Competition, and the International Women’s
Brass Conference.

Dan Grantham is the Instrumental Music Director at the Cincinnati Hills
Christian Academy and Instructor of Trumpet at the University of Dayton.
In addition to teaching at CHCA and UD, he is active performing with
various groups including the Dayton Philharmonic, Euro Brass
Ensemble, Peninsula Music Festival, Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony,
and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Dan was prize winner in six
National competitions and a finalist in the Ellsworth Smith International
Solo Trumpet competition. He is also a founding member of the
Canterbury Brass Quintet, which won first prize in the prestigious
Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and New York Brass Quintet
Competition.
Mr. Grantham received a M.M. at the University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of
Musical Arts at CCM.

Wesley Woolard - Freelance Trumpeter and Principal Trumpet
Richmond Symphony
Wesley Woolard is principal trumpet of the Richmond Symphony
Orchestra in Indiana and second trumpet with the Cincinnati Chamber
Orchestra. He also frequently performs with the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra. Additionally, he has performed with the St. Louis Symphony,
the Belgian Radio Orchestra, the Mexico City Philharmonic, and the
Lexington Philharmonic. He spent two seasons in Mexico as the
principal trumpet of the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra.
Woolard studied trumpet performance at Illinois State University, the
College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and the
University of Kentucky. He received a fellowship from the Alex de
Vries Foundation of Antwerp, Belgium for study with the late Theo
Mertens. Woolard has studied with master teachers Susan Slaughter,
Philip Collins, Vincent DiMartino, Arnold Jacobs and William Adam.
Woolard teaches extensively throughout the southwestern Ohio region.
In addition to his passion for the trumpet, Woolard is an enthusiastic
cyclist, pedaling over 4,000 miles annually.
He lives with his flutist wife, Evelien, and drummer son, Peter, in
Cincinnati.

Marc Wolfley - Freelance Drum set specialist
Marc Wolfley, a native Cincinnatian, began his career with classical
study at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor
of Music from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, before
moving to Chicago to play jazz for five years with Judy Roberts
among others. After moving back to Cincinnati, he became first call
extra percussionist and drum set specialist with the Cincinnati
Symphony and Pops Orchestra, has also performed with the
Philadelphia, Baltimore, National, Detroit, Indianapolis, Ravinia,
Naples Fl., Hong Kong and Taiwan National Orchestras and plays
with many of the best area jazz groups as well. He can be heard on
over fifty recordings with the Cincinnati Pops and Symphony
Orchestra, and twenty jazz recordings with: Tim Hagans, Judy
Roberts, Laurel Masse, The Psychoacoustic Orchestra and his own
C.D. released in 2004 entitled “Anyone” Having played in many
musical groups in a wide variety of styles, he has performed in jazz
clubs, theaters, and concert halls all over the U.S., Europe, Puerto
Rico, Ukraine, Japan, Taiwan and China.
