Betty Douglas, Flute Choir

Ms. Douglas holds a Master of Music Degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the State University of New York at Potsdam. An active performer, Betty held the position of 3rd flute/ piccolo with the Lexington Philharmonic for 6 years, and 2nd flute in the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (SC). Locally, Ms. Douglas has performed with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra; Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony; and Richmond Symphony; as well as School House Symphony, a seven-member chamber ensemble. An accomplished piccoloist, Ms. Douglas was the winner of the National Flute Association Piccolo Competition held in New York, NY. In addition to performing, Ms. Douglas teaches flute at Thomas More University and runs a private studio in Northern Kentucky. Ms. Douglas previously taught flute at Earlham College (IN), Morehead State University (KY), the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department and at Northern Kentucky University. Betty is also a sought- after clinician who has run sectionals for many local schools including Beechwood High, Conner Middle, Gray Middle, Ryle High, Ockerman Middle, Camp Ernst Middle, Cooper High and Milford High Schools. In her spare time, Betty enjoys gardening, studying German, and spending time with her husband, James Bunte and her twins Jasper and Emma.
