Ben Freimuth, Clarinet

Ben Freimuth joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2003 as bass clarinetist. Prior to his arrival in California, he held the principal clarinet chair with the Kansas City Symphony and performed there as soloist on two occasions. A native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Mr. Freimuth studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy with Debbie Chodacki before attending the Cleveland Institute of Music. In Cleveland, he studied with Linnea Neriem and performed with the Cleveland Orchestra. He also attended the Tanglewood Music Center for three seasons. Mr. Freimuth attended Rice University, studying for two years with David Peck. After leaving Rice University, Mr. Freimuth performed with the New World Symphony in Miami, lived and performed in Denver, Colorado, and was later offered the bass clarinet position with the Utah Symphony in Salt Lake City. He was the clarinet professor at University of Missouri at Kansas City during the 2002-2003 school year.
