Dr. Isidore Rudnick Joins Tri-State Ensembles


We are pleased to announce our new Jazz Combo Director for the 2016 season, Dr. Isidore Rudnick.

Dr. Isidore Rudnick is a nationally recognized music educator, jazz trombonist, conductor, composer and arranger. He holds a Bachelors of Music Degree and a Masters of Music Degree from the University of North Texas and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Miami (Florida). Dr. Rudnick served as Artistic Director at the School for Creative & Performing Arts in Cincinnati from 2005-2015. Under his leadership, SCPA students garnered international awards and performed on professional stages in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He has previously served as Director of Instrumental Music at Yakima Valley Community College (Washington), Music Department Coordinator at the University of Maine at Augusta, and Visiting Lecturer in Music at the Krakow Academy of Music in Poland.  Dr. Rudnick is currently the Fine Arts Curriculum Manager for Cincinnati Public Schools.
An accomplished composer and arranger, Dr. Rudnick has written works for large and small jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, symphony orchestra and wind band. He composed and produced two large scale original ballets, Emotions (2001) and Collages (2005) and conducted the premiere of his Suite for Jazz Trio and Orchestra with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra in January of 2007.
As a performer and director, Dr. Rudnick has shared the stage with prominent jazz artists including Carmen MacRae, Eddie Gomez, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, and David “Fathead” Newman. As a trombonist, he has performed at leading jazz festivals in the U.S. and Europe.
